Daylesford Cider Company & Gourmet Traveller
2009 Green Label Cider was recently made an appearance in Gourmet Traveller. Here's what they had to say...........
"This cider includes proper varieties (including dabinett and Blumer's Norman)from David Stagg's own organically grown farmed trees. It has a lovely soft apple perfume with a touch of spice and floral characters, and while it is round and pleasantly sweetish, there's also true cider bite and grainy texture on the finish. 5.6 percent alcohol, minimal preservatives added."
Lavandula's 20th Lavender Harvest
This summer is Lavandula's 20th lavender harvest. Carol White bought a property at Shepherds Flat (north of Hepburn Springs) because the golden stone buildings reminded her of Europe. They were built
in the 1860s by Italian-speaking Swiss. To match, she planted a Europeangarden, and lavender, a crop that could be managed by a woman and her two sons.
20 years ago she realised her farm would produce enough lavender to sell cut flowers. Tentatively she opened her garden for 6 weekends during the summer, while the lavender was harvested slowly, by hand with sickles. As the crop grew in size Carol needed to learn how to process it, she trialled and developed her line of body products. Now the garden is open daily through the warm months, and the lavender products have forged a reputation for efficacy and good value. The fragrant annual crop is harvested, slowly by hand with a sickle, right through January.
