The Cosmopolitan Hotel, Trentham – eat drink love local
Trentham's iconic corner pub has opened its gardens and stables each weekend offering the very best of local food, wines and good times.
The Cosmopolitan has long been a central gathering place but in 2005 fire badly damaged the pub causing it to close down. In 2009, its new owners took up the challenge of restoring the pub to its former glory and during that process have opened the unique gardens in the summer months and stables in the cooler months on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and for special events by appointment.
There's simply no place one could prefer to be than amidst the charm and laid-back ambiance of The Cosmopolitan. Dine under the canopy of century-old elms, wander picturesque paths as they meander through an acre of heritage gardens or cosy up by the fire in the stables during the cooler months.
When you come to The Cosmopolitan, you'll experience all the flavours and aromas the local region has to offer. The menu utilises only the finest seasonal produce and the wine and beer is sourced from the surrounding areas. The Macedon Ranges are noted for their Chardonnays, Pinots and sparkling whites which all thrive in the cool climate while selections from Heathcote and Bendigo round out the list with full bodied reds. And for those who are partial to a relaxing ale, the Holgate range of beers are brewed with 100% malt, real hops and sparkling fresh Macedon Ranges water. Brewed locally in Woodend they are drops not to be missed.
The Cosmopolitan is an easy hour's drive from Melbourne, and little more than 20 kms from Daylesford, Woodend and Kyneton so there’s no excuse not to drop in for lunch, dinner or a laid back afternoon drink… or two.
Open Thursday dinner from 5-11pm, Friday, Saturday, Sunday for all day drinks from 11am til 11pm with lunch from 12-3pm and dinner from 6-9pm.
