Established in 1974 by Graeme Leith and Sue Mackinnon Passing Clouds has consistently produced wines of exemplarily quality with the power to age gracefully. Indeed the 1980 Shiraz Cabernets are still drinking beautifully.
Graeme and his son Cameron (who has taken over the winemaking) have recently relocated their winery to Daylesford, in the Macedon Ranges – a location where the clouds do a little less passing! They still produce their acclaimed Bendigo reds for which they have built a strong and loyal following over the years, but the range is now complemented by cool climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sparkling Chardonnay.
The fruit is meticulously cared for as naturally as possible, there are several passes of each vine per season, ensuring every bunch is in the optimum position. As winemakers we guide the fruit from vineyard into bottle gently, using traditional winemaking techniques.
The cellar door in Musk has opened, making it the closest to Daylesford (5 minutes) on the Daylesford-Trentham Road. 11am-5pm daily for wine tastings, regional cheese platters and sales.
