Angelica Organic Farm was established in spring 2006. From day one the farm's produce has been grown by chemical-free means - nurturing and sustaining the land's natural ecosystems.
Located in Glenlyon, just outside Daylesford, the farm is a small-scale family enterprise, owned and grown by Deri-Anne and Tim Wyatt.
Angelica Organic Farm currently has “in conversion” certified organic status (ACO:10966IC), and are now working towards achieving full organic certification.
Angelica Organic Farm produces gourmet garlic, vegetables (many heirloom varieties) culinary herbs and tomatoes (heirloom and common) according to the distinct local seasons, mainly available from late spring through early winter. A small range of cut flowers is grown during summer. Throughout the Daylesford area and Melbourne, this fledgling business is already building a strong reputation among discerning chefs and home cooks.
Gorgeous, piquant gourmet garlic has become the farm’s mainstay crop and is fast gaining popularity as discerning health and ethically conscious consumers ‘fight back’ against cheap, inferior, toxin-laden imports. You can now have premium quality, lovingly naturally grown Australian gourmet garlic bulbs and beautiful handcrafted plaits posted directly to your door via Angelica Organic Farm’s newly launched online garlic shop (www.angelicaorganicfarm.com.au)
The Wyatts have had long held dreams of organic farming and community food schemes. In his former life, Tim was a professional chef in leading restaurants where he acquired a passion for working with high quality produce and realised the mutual value to be shared in supporting small, diversified family farms and fostering direct, fair-trade relationships with their farmers. For many years he loved growing his own organic vegies, but yearned to do it on a much larger scale.
As a waitress in acclaimed restaurants, and later working as a qualified practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Deri-Anne developed an abiding interest in the importance of healthy nutrition and a love of cooking with fine, naturally grown ingredients.
The Wyatt’s are keen to see locally grown, in-season, chemical-free, non-genetically manipulated produce become the norm once again in our daily lives, as well as reducing food miles, and promoting a relationship between growers and consumers.
Plans for a farm gate shop are in the pipeline. Meanwhile, if you're lucky enough to live in the Daylesford area, you can just call or email to check what's in season and to place orders for farm gate pickup. Otherwise, roll up to either Daylesford, Collingwood Children’s Farm, Abbottsford Convent Slow Food or Albert Park Gasworks Farmers’ Markets to meet Tim and Deri-Anne and sample their harvest whilst treating yourself to a fun and plentiful morning of discovery at these highly regarded farmers’ markets.
Angelica Organic Farm produce is also served in cafes, restaurants and provedores in and around Daylesford and Melbourne.
