Rare breed English Large Black free-range pig farm
We are a family of farmers of rare breed English Large Black free-range pigs. In 2011, we left our farm-like garden in the city and began farming in a way that we are confident is ethical and sustainable for generations to come. Our pigs are entirely free range, with open access to shelter from inclement weather or wallow in cooling mud as they choose. They're fed a diet that consists primarily of mixed grains all from central Victoria, including spent brewer's grain from Holgate Brewery in Woodend, and sileage we make on the farm. We supplement their diet with green waste from the garden and the occasional whey from Tammi's cheesemaking efforts, as well as acorns and chestnuts when we can get our hands on some windfall.
Product distribution - selected outlets, via mailing list: We sell direct to consumer – those interested in our range of primal cuts, sausages, and soon a selection of charcuterie can email your interest to jonaifarms@gmail.com.
