THE WINES
Gifted wine maker Norman Latta using traditional wine making techniques does a fine job in producing excellent wines from the fresh and pristine fruits of Sailors Falls Estate. All fruit is estate grown and nurtured by labour intensive viticultural practices. Vineyard management features minimal use of chemicals and no irrigation.
Pinot Gris
The Estate has become well known for its Pinot Gris, first produced in 2003.
The Pinot Gris grape, being a lover of cool climates, relishes the areas cold, crisp winters and short dry summers. The pinot gris has gained wide acclaim from local restaurants and lovers of fine wine. It is the spicy nose with the fragrant aromas of apples and pears with the dry palate to finish, which distinguish this wine as a classy new addition to the area. The Age on 29/1/06 wrote about pinot gris:

A wine that goes beautifully with all foods.
Pinot Noir
First produced in 2005. A fruit driven wine with berry and spice flavours it exhibits a dry palate to finish, which is typical of the cool climate environment that it is grown in. Good depth and ready for drinking now.
Gewurztraminer
First produced in 2006. We await the first vintage with great interest. This is a highly scented wine that originated in Alsace. Universal descriptions include words like:
• Musky fruit and lychee taste
• Overripe peach or nectarine taste
• Highly scented and perfumed.
We produce small quantities, but you be the judge of this unique wine.
Accommodation
“Villa and Vines” is a large Tuscan style chateau, set at the end of the Sailors Falls Estate vineyard. Up to six people can be accommodated in two luxury villa units, each with its own spa and wood fire oven or a spacious one bedroom studio suite is also available upstairs at modest rates. Guests with a yen for exercise can choose from a trek through the forest, head to the magnificent Sailors Falls waterfalls and natural spring or opt for a leisurely stroll around the vineyard on the 20 acre property.
By arrangement hearty appetites can be catered for on the estate, with a wood-fired oven and BBQ’s facilities available for patrons. Alternatively, if you choose to venture further a field, the cafés and restaurants of Daylesford serving delicious local produce lie within a five-minute drive.
We offer a luxury bush retreat where you can enjoy beautiful surrounding and fine wine at your leisure – now that’s something to get really excited about!

Our Cellar door is open weekends and public holidays 11am – 5pm, and other times by appointment . Feel free to drop by on your way to or from Daylesford to taste our fine wines.
