More than 20 years ago, two or three visionaries blazed the trail for regional food and wine in the Daylesford Macedon district.  Their faith in the quality of local produce, and their dedication in presenting it to its best advantage, rightly earned them many awards and accolades along the way.

With the emergence of the Central Highlands as a highly attractive food and wine destination, many of the people who now form DMP are encouraged to diverge from established careers to pursue their passions within the region.  Some members, whose families had worked the land for generations, diversified from one type of farming to another, creating unexpected but welcome demand for their specialised products.

Whether it's the public servant turned beekeeper, the teacher turned winemaker, the builder turned olive grower or the sheep farmer turned aquaculturist, all the individuals who form DMP care deeply about the quality of product they market.

Within the region many restaurants, hotels, cafes, food stores and cooking schools champion Daylesford Macedon Produce.  Local growers deliver to their kitchens the best and freshest produce the season has to offer, satisfying the high expectations of chefs and delighting an increasingly discerning market.

At provedore stores, markets and bakeries fill your basket with goodies to take home. On drives between villages keep a sharp eye out for roadside A-frames advertising seasonal produce sold directly from farm gates. Seek out cellar doors - the winemakers are all good for a yarn while you sample their latest vintage.
